The dessert that represents the Neapolitans in the world.
The foliage or curly is a typical Neapolitan dessert. The leaflet along with the baba is one of the sweet symbol of the Neapolitan tradition.
Today it exists in two quite different versions in the form, but not in the content (fill): the straw flipper and the peeler.
The origins of this sweet are traced back to 1600 by a nun of the Cross of Lucca, a monastery of Naples.
Others say instead that the origin of the leaflet is Salernitana by other nuns, this time of the convent of Santa Rosa on the Amalfi Coast.
However, it is to be considered that the dessert of the time was of a very different nature than what we consider today the little leaflet.
